ITBS - a ray of hope?

Monday, October 31st, 2005

Today should have been for post-marathon recovery, so I’d already booked a day off work should I need it. Physically I didn’t need it, but I think mentally I did. It turned out it could have been the smartest thing I’ve done for a while.
As part of the chillout process, we (Allsyon and myself) […]

ITBS saga continues

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

So we made it home late afternoon from DC. Traffic was good and the drive was quite uneventful. Allyson was naturally happy with her finish time, even though she said the last few miles were very tough. She’s looking forward to next year already….
After missing out on the marathon for all the right reasons, I […]

Marine Corps Marathon will have to wait for another year…

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

After last week’s 5k to test my IT Band (which kind of took me back to square one) , I rested for yet another 7 days. The only time I broke into a jog was at my daughter’s District Cross Country Meet on Wednesday as I tracked her progress during the race. At the meet […]

Cardiff 100 years a city today

Happy Birthday Cardiff! Today is the day it marks its centenary as a city.

Starbucks - The Way I See It

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Stopped by my local Starbucks lunchtime and noticed something new [I’m assuming it’s new anyway], printed on the side of the coffee cups. It’s a collection of thoughts, opinions and expressions designed to get people talking.
Mine was #45 in the series:
Desire, passion, dedication, hard work, good food and a little luck are all you […]

Photoshop Tip of the Day

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Another [useless?] Photoshop tip…..
If you ever wanted a quick way to find a particular color’s web value and then make it available to your clipboard, just follow the steps below:
- open an image in Photoshop [I’m using CS1]
- choose the eyedropper tool
- right-click whichever color you need the value of [zoom in if necessary]
- choose […]

iPod nano locked up

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

For some reason my iPod nano locked up yesterday after a calendar alert displayed on screen. The message on display was “Press Center to dismiss”. Pressing Center didn’t do anything (neither did any other button press combination) and I was left with a locked up iPod nano that my PC wouldn’t even recognize. Couldn’t find […]

Quick, clean look in Photoshop CS

Monday, October 24th, 2005

Here’s a useful shortcut for Photoshop CS on a PC. When you want a clean, no-guides look on your page (actually by clean I mean no ruler guides, no gridlines, no slices, no selection edges), just press Control+H to make them disappear.

ITBS - back to square one

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

My optimism is waning. As much as I enjoyed the Race For The Cure 5k, with a rare chance to run with my wife (who ran really well today I might add!), I have to say my chances of lining up for the marathon next weekend are very, very slim.
The now familiar 2 miles into […]

ITBS - back to the bike

Friday, October 21st, 2005

Ok, it’s Friday night and things are looking good. No running again this week, just 3 easy 30 minute spins on the bike trainer, stretching, icing and a ton of Ibuprofen. Tonight I ran a steady 2 miles with no pain - no twinges, no stabbing, no scraping and no dull ache afterwards.
Tomorrow I get […]
