2006 Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon almost full

Filed under: Running — Steve Speirs @ 6:19 pm

2006 MedalAccording to the Rock’n'Roll web site sea of love dvdrip there’s only a couple of hundred slots left for the Virginia Beach Half Marathon which takes place on September 3rd, 2006. This will be my 5th Rock’n'Roll in 6 years and it’s always a great race. The race also provides the best quality medal you’ll ever receive at a race – definitely a collectors item. The 2006 medal is pictured above left.

The race starts at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, runs through the scenic Virginia Beach oceanfront and finishes on the boardwalk. Participants are treated to 14 stages along the 13.1-mile course, featuring 20 local bands.

New Web Site Project – Team LogicIT Off Road Duathlon

Filed under: Web Design — Steve Speirs @ 6:40 am

Team LogicIT Off Road DuathlonMy latest [tag]design[/tag] project is for another [tag]multi-sport[/tag] event to be directed and timed by the Hampton Roads based company KaleRunning

. The off road [tag]duathlon[/tag] is sponsored by Team LogicIT and will take place on Sunday November 6th, 2006.
Even though I had a couple of initial ideas for a [tag]web site[/tag], the first task was to create a [tag]logo[/tag] for the event. I wanted to utilize the KaleRunning blues and yellow in the logo, and found a rough-looking font which I edited a bit for the text. For the graphical element I tried to portray an “edgy” feel for the runner, biker and grassy slope. Once the client was happy with the [tag]finished logo[/tag], I set to work [tag]building the web site[/tag] which is still a work in progress.

I aim to use 100% [tag]valid XHTML[/tag] and [tag]CSS[/tag] and stay away from tables based layout. I’ve learnt so much about page layout from various books and online resources, but still find it a challenge not to think in terms of one big table split into smaller tables and cells. I’m getting there though….

Once the site goes live I will post a link to the finished product, which will be another subdomain of KaleRunning.com all roads lead home free download download syngenor online .

    Wales in the World Cup?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Steve Speirs @ 7:38 am

    Not for a while…..

With World Cup 2006 fever hotting up all the time, you might be wondering why Wales aren’t battling it out in Germany at the moment.
Well, despite being founded 130 years ago in 1876, the Welsh football team has only qualified once for the World Cup final stages. The year was 1958 and ironically they were quite lucky to make it. The Welsh had been eliminated in the qualifying rounds but were recalled when no opponent could be found for Israel in the Asian qualifying competition. After a solid run they were finally eliminated by Brazil in a tight 1-0 quarter final defeat.

The closest since 1958 was when Wales were within a penalty shot against Romania of making it to USA ‘94, but Paul Bodin’s miss put paid to their campaign.

Maybe 2010 will be a lucky year for the Welsh??

    Track workout 12×200m

Filed under: Running — Steve Speirs @ 11:44 am

Map of 12x200m with warm up/cool down watch strangers the in divx judgment night dvdrip download Week 3 of my current training phase had me running 12×200m with a 200m recovery between efforts. This was a slight step up from the previous 2 weeks where I just had to do 8 repeats at mile goal pace. Anyway, onto the workout. The warm up went fine, nice and relaxed with a few random 50m striders thrown in to prepare my legs for the onslaught ahead.

The first 200m felt easy at 37.7s (right on pace) and by the time I reached number 6 I was still feeling good. To balance the stress on both legs I changed direction for the last 6 repeats, which turned out to be a good thing as the wind was more favorable running clockwise. I was able to churn out several sub-34 200s and finished with a best so far 33.9s at a max heart rate of 176 (still something left in the tank).
