Haven’t had too much time to post anything of note the past week or so – the usual story of being busy at work and lots going on at home too. However, today marks my one year anniversary of [tag]running[/tag] at least 2 miles every day, so I figured I’d take a couple of minutes to mark the occasion. Will the [tag]streak[/tag] continue after today? I think so, I don’t see any reason why I should end it at the moment. As long as I can stay injury free, there’s no reason why I can’t set aside at least 16 minutes to run a couple of miles as a bare minimum. Naturally, I’ll be running longer/faster when I can.
Also, last night I (stupidly) signed up for the [tag]Thunder Road Marathon[/tag] in [tag]Charlotte[/tag] on December 9th. I’ve had this notion in the back of my mind since the [tag]Marine Corps Marathon[/tag] of doing another marathon before the end of 2006. Well, Charlotte fits the bill perfectly and I should have enough fitness for a decent showing. I’m not expecting another [tag]PR[/tag] (after 3 consecutive PR’s already this year), but it should be a good race. My 2 races since Marine Corps (The [tag]Cape Henry 10 Miler
[/tag] and the [tag]Turkey Trot 10k[/tag]) have both been good runs, so I’m positive it won’t be a disaster. No doubt I’ll update the blog as race day approaches. For now I have one last 2006 [tag]10k[/tag] on Saturday to think about….

Quick post before our [tag]Thanksgiving[/tag] celebrations begin. Ran the [tag]Turkey Trot 10k[/tag] this morning in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was cold, wet and windy but there was still a good turnout – many local runners, but also a good deal of runners from out of town (presumably visiting relatives for Thanksgiving).

To save money, I typically buy Hammer Gel in the 26-serving jugs watch life begins for andy hardy in divx distinguished gentleman the online , although recently for the sake of convenience, I’ve been taking advantage of the single serving pouches. I’ve often wondered how long I could keep one of the jugs in the refrigerator once it’s been opened. This was posted yesterday on the Yahoo! endurancelist Group – a private forum for clients of [tag]E-Caps[/tag] and [tag]Hammer Nutrition[/tag] to discuss all facets of training, diet, nutritional supplements and fuel sources.
“[tag]Hammer Gel[/tag] of both un-opened and opened containers have a maximum shelf life. If you look at the side of your jug there is a date stamped on the bottle and that is really the longest a bottle should be kept around. Once it is opened, even in the refrigerator I would put about 10-12 months maximum, unless the expiration date comes first.”

I think my next purchase will be the Ian Cull Auto-Up – an affordable MINI circuit that solves the annoyance of having to hold the window toggle switch up to close windows in a [tag]MINI[/tag]. For safety reasons, US spec cars don’t have the auto-up feature as standard – hence the reason Ian has sold over 1200 MINI Circuits!

The [tag]dotCYM[/tag] campaign claims to have support from people in commerce, design, publishing and the legal sectors, but needs to persuade the international body responsible, ICANN, that there is widespread demand for the right to use the suffix.

Tough race at Fort Story today. Went into it thinking (hoping) I could hold 6:10 pace for a 1:01:40, and if things went really well , pull off 6:08 pace for a 1:01:20 finish time. Both would be comfortably under my current best time for a 10 mile race. Conditions were pretty good on race morning – temperatures in the low 50’s, but a NNE wind of about 10mph. With a few hills (or as close to a hill as you get in Virginia Beach) thrown into the mix, it looked to be an interesting race.
