1 year running streak and the Charlotte Marathon

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Haven’t had too much time to post anything of note the past week or so - the usual story of being busy at work and lots going on at home too. However, today marks my one year anniversary of running at least 2 miles every day, so I figured I’d take a couple of minutes […]

A wet and windy Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 10k

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

Quick post before our Thanksgiving celebrations begin. Ran the Turkey Trot 10k this morning in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was cold, wet and windy but there was still a good turnout - many local runners, but also a good deal of runners from out of town (presumably visiting relatives for Thanksgiving).

Hammer Gel Shelf Life

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

To save money, I typically buy Hammer Gel in the 26-serving jugs, although recently for the sake of convenience, I’ve been taking advantage of the single serving pouches. I’ve often wondered how long I could keep one of the jugs in the refrigerator once it’s been opened. This was posted yesterday on the Yahoo! endurancelist […]

“I’m going back next year; I’ve decided I’m going back,” the 35-year-old cycling great told Reuters in a recent telephone interview from his hometown of Austin, Texas.

Where’s the Dragon in my sausage?

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

A spicy sausage known as the Welsh Dragon will have to be renamed after trading standards’ officers warned the manufacturers that they could face prosecution because it does not contain dragon.
The sausages will now have to be labelled Welsh Dragon Pork Sausages to avoid any confusion among customers.

cymru66.com to become cymru66.cym?

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Welsh websites could soon choose a .cym address rather than .uk or .com, if a campaign backed by assembly members succeeds.
The dotCYM campaign claims to have support from people in commerce, design, publishing and the legal sectors, but needs to persuade the international body responsible, ICANN, that there is widespread demand for the right to […]

Cape Henry 10 Miler - 2nd overall and another PR

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Tough race at Fort Story today. Went into it thinking (hoping) I could hold 6:10 pace for a 1:01:40, and if things went really well , pull off 6:08 pace for a 1:01:20 finish time. Both would be comfortably under my current best time for a 10 mile race. Conditions were pretty good on race […]
