Dehydration: Don’t Let It Slow You Down This Summer

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

With temperatures stuck in the 80s and 90s here in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the moment, it’s so important to stay hydrated. It’s astounding to think as little as 2% dehydration will have a huge negative effect on your training/race performance.
Dehydration can be defined as “a condition in which the body contains an insufficient volume […]

Minis around the UK

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

Even though I own one of the new style 2007 MINIs, I still love the classic Minis produced between 1959-2000. They’re quite rare here in the USA, but I spotted loads on my recent trip to the UK. Here are a few photos (click the thumbnail for a larger image):

FIRST Marathon Training Plan: Week 1 Lessons Learned

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

With 2 out of the 3 Key Run Workouts completed this week, I thought I’d take a few minutes to reflect on my achievements so far. I must admit my initial reaction after both workouts (#1 and #2) was one of disappointment and frustration. I feared 2 weeks away from the heat and humidity of […]

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Geraint Thomas of Cardiff, Wales, at 21 the youngest rider in the Tour de France, kept up his good form in yesterday’s 193 km fourth stage from Villers-Cotterts to Joigny.
He finished one minute and seven seconds behind stage winner Thor Hushovd of Swtzerland and now stands in 47th position overall.
Geraint, who lost his spleen in […]

FREE Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon Beach Towel

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

You may remember my recent post about Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon race organizers offering a FREE Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon Beach Towel as an incentive to the first 250 people to sign up using the online code TOWEL.
Imagine my surprise tonight when the mailman delivered not 1, but 3 beach towels, each […]

Push Ups: The Quest for Strength Week 4 Revisited

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Here we go again - Week 4 of the Push Ups Quest for Strength plan. If you’re thinking “Wait a minute, we already did Week 4″, you’re absolutely correct, but my plan to complete Week 5 and 6 while I was on vacation didn’t exactly happen. I didn’t totally slob around, but I didn’t follow […]
