What happened to my Technorati Rank?
A common question on some of the blogging forums and community sites at the moment seems to be “What happened to my Technorati Rank?”
Technorati recently went through quite a thorough redesign which apparently took 6 months to accomplish. Some of the terminology changed (favorites to fans for example) and features were rearranged to give the site a whole new look. For the first day or so I wasn’t aware of the missing Technorati Rank statistic, but then people started to comment on it’s disappearance.
A few days later, Adam Hertz, Vice President of Engineering for Technorati, posted the following on the Technorati Blog:
“In our recent redesign, we created a new look for our Blog page. Due to an oversight, we left the Technorati Rank statistic out of the design for this page. Many of you noticed this omission and let us know how much you missed seeing your ranks. Some folks assumed we’d replaced Rank with Authority, since we tightened up the language and display of Authority. But it really was just an omission, so sorry for the confusion. Technorati Rank is back.”
Nice to see they listen to the people that matter and were quick to fix the omission. Therefore, as of now, the Rank has returned!
On the left is an example of Google’s listing at Technorati. You’ll see they are Ranked 1 (surprise, surprise!) and have an Authority rating of 143,311. Naturally Google.com is also one of the Top 100 sites. To find out your current ranking, use the following URL: “http://www.technorati.com/blogs/your_domain.com“. Remember to change your_domain.com to your own domain name (www.cymru66.com in my case).
My current Authority is 50 and my Technorati Rank is 102,227. Technorati Authority, just in case you’re wondering, is the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The number is measured by the number of blogs, rather than the number of links.
You can even use one of the Technorati Widgets to display your authority:
View blog authority
If you enjoy reading this blog, please consider adding it to your Technorati Favorites. I’d be happy to return the favor - just leave a comment with your domain name and Technorati user name and I’ll get to it as soon as I can.

I would head over to Technorati Support and see if someone can help. Seems like it’s quite a common problem:
