Saturday afternoon 4 miler

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Last night’s 30 minute run turned out to be a steady effort on the treadmill. The weather turned bad on the way home from work and I didn’t really fancy the threat of a wet and windy run outside. As usual, the treadmill run was pretty mundane and uneventful, but at least it was another […]

Another 5 mile run and no foot problems

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Monday’s easy 4 mile run was a nice confidence boost after being out injured for 2 weeks for a foot issue, so after an uneventful 30 minute bike workout last night, I was hoping for another run with no problems.
It would also be a good chance to try out new running shoes I’d bought […]

First bike ride for a long, long time….

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Well, with my foot no better than it was yesterday, I decided it was time to brush down my Giant TCR triathlon bike, and head out for an hour of road biking. To be honest I can’t remember the last time I rode outside. Maybe it was the Sandman Triathlon in 2005?? Who knows?…
I’ve ridden […]

Chesapeake Bay 10k

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Despite picking up a foot injury at the Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon a couple of weeks ago, I decided to run this year’s Chesapeake Bay 10k at Ocean View Beach Park in Norfolk, VA. I’ve only run twice since the Half Marathon, but tried to keep up a base fitness level by doing some […]

Inaugural Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Near perfect conditions greeted the 1500+ registered runners on the morning of the Inaugural Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon. Temperatures were in the mid-40’s with little to no wind. The 13.1 mile out and back, straight as an arrow course was never going to be the most interesting route, but actually it was kind of […]

Distance Series 25k at Fort Story

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Another successful race at Fort Story today which reinforces my hopes of another good Shamrock Marathon run this coming March.
I managed to win my age group (40-44 year olds) and place 6th overall. My finish time was 1:37:34 which just happens to be a PR for the 20k distance.
Full details of this race, courtesy of […]

New Year’s Eve training run

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Well with the last day of 2006 upon us, it was nice to end the year with a great training run. Conditions were pretty much perfect for this time of year - temperatures in the low 40’s and very little wind.
