Charlotte’s Thunder Road Marathon - another PR to finish off a fine 2006!

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Only time for a quick race report, hopefully something more detailed will follow pretty soon. What a great, challenging race! Conditions were far from ideal and I think that’s the coldest temperatures I’ve ever raced in. Luckily my hotel was only minutes from the start line, so I was able to stay indoors until almost […]

Garmin Forerunner 305 unit software update v.2.50

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

There’s a unit software update for the Forerunner 305 available on the Garmin web site. Looks like there are many improvements to the software and several problems have been fixed. It will interesting to see if I notice any differences in this weekend’s Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte. Hopefully I’ll get a good GPS track….

A wet and windy Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 10k

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

Quick post before our Thanksgiving celebrations begin. Ran the Turkey Trot 10k this morning in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was cold, wet and windy but there was still a good turnout - many local runners, but also a good deal of runners from out of town (presumably visiting relatives for Thanksgiving).

Cape Henry 10 Miler - 2nd overall and another PR

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Tough race at Fort Story today. Went into it thinking (hoping) I could hold 6:10 pace for a 1:01:40, and if things went really well , pull off 6:08 pace for a 1:01:20 finish time. Both would be comfortably under my current best time for a 10 mile race. Conditions were pretty good on race […]

Garmin Foot Pod to ship soon?

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

With the darker evenings now upon us, I typically turn to my treadmill a couple of evenings each week to ensure I still get some quality workouts in. Therefore I was pleased to read a couple of months ago that Garmin were releasing a Foot Pod which tracks distance, pace and calories burned when no […]

Garmin gets a new logo

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Just ahead of opening the world’s first GPS retail showcase, Garmin has begun to rollout a new corporate logo. The contemporary and easy-to-read logo builds on Garmin’s rich brand awareness while integrating new modern elements. One of the most noticeable changes is the elimination of the globe and the introduction of a triangle, which is […]

2006 Marine Corps Marathon. Another PR….just!

Monday, October 30th, 2006

It’s been a couple of days since the race, and I’m only just getting a chance to write a brief report of Sunday’s Marine Corps Marathon. First of all, I have to say I’m ecstatic to get another marathon PR (my 3rd of 2006). Going into the race I knew I had a good shot […]

Another race, another PR…

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

Most people tell me I race too much, and maybe they’re right, but with Marine Corps Marathon just a couple of weeks away I found myself on the starting line of yet another 5k. I ran the All American Beach Ford 5k a couple of years ago and remember it as a fast, flat (aren’t […]

Stonewall Jackson 20 Mile Ambulance Run

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

Ok, getting up at 2:45am on a Saturday morning to drive to a race 150 miles away is not most people’s idea of fun, and I must admit heading west on I-64 in driving rain and blustery winds I nearly thought the same thing myself. Nearly being the key word.
I knew this was the […]
