Too Many Bikes: I Need A Bike Rack

BikesOur house is already overrun with triathlon bikes, road bikes and beach cruisers, but with my wife in the market for a new mountain bike, I figure it’s also time to invest in some type of bike storage rack.

As with any purchase, there appears to be too many products to choose from, both online and at local stores. One great web site I’ve found is a Yahoo! Store called Car Guy Garage that sell several styles of wall rack, a simple, but effective floor rack, a cool overhead rack and an ingenious screwless rack that stacks bikes on a vertical stand.

Now it’s just a question of choosing my best option. With storage space at a premium I’m leaning towards the overhead style which maximizes unused space with ease and safety, but I haven’t totally discounted the other styles which could also work too. Decisions, decisions….

I got a Yakima bike rack at the beginning of summer. I highly suggest that brand. When my bike isn’t on my car I use a coated u hanger. Hangs from the ceiling and pretty cheap. You can pick them up at most hardware stores.

Yeah, I used to use Yakima racks on my Nissan Xterra when I was really into triathlon - great brand and a great selection of products. Now my main problem is storage space in the garage and workout room, but I am looking to buy racks for my MINI pretty soon too….

      Thanks for the comment!

Ha, ha…you can never have too many bikes! I’ve got two more on my list, a double suspension mtn bike and a flip flop fixie/ss road bike (already have the flip flop rigid mtn bike!)

      Fun site here, thanks. :)
