Calzaghe Forced To Postpone Jones Jr Fight
Quick update - Joe Calzaghe has injured his right hand in training and will not be ready in time for the planned fight with American great Roy Jones Jr at New York’s Madison Square Garden on 20 September.
Calzaghe now believes his super-fight with Jones Jr will now happen on 8 November.
Speaking to a South Wales newspaper, Calzaghe said:
I have seen a consultant in Cardiff who advised me to rest it for three weeks.
“I now expect the fight to take place in November.”
Jones’ promotion company still hopes the rescheduled fight will be at Madison Square Garden, but according to recent media reports having the fight in Calzaghe’s home-land of Wales is still a possibility.

Good luck to Calzaghe. Hope his hand heals in good time, and he can take this fight to Roy Jones Junior. Good boxing match-ups are so rare these days!
