Quote of the day for me from yesterday’s [tag]Tour de France[/tag] stage was the “It’s not like this back in Cardiff!” statement from [tag]Welsh[/tag] rider [tag]Geraint Thomas[/tag].
Geraint was exhausted after riding for more than five hours in the sun.
“It’s ridiculous. I’ve never really been in it before,” Thomas said. “It’s not like this back in [tag]Cardiff[/tag].”
Thomas, who is Welsh, crossed the line in 170th place, and only Belgian rider Gert Steegmans was slower.
“It was so fast from the start … in this heat it just takes it all out of you,” Thomas said. “I’m pretty wasted now. I can’t wait to get back and get a shower.”
After he’d finished gulping down a can of soft drink, Thomas was asked his reaction to the positive doping test for Patrik Sinkewitz. News broke Wednesday that the German rider had shown elevated levels of testosterone.
“For the moment I don’t really care,” Thomas said. “I’m too tired to even have any idea … Ask me tomorrow.”
Hang in there Geraint – only another 10 stages and 1600+ km to go! Good luck in the Pyranees too….

lol… that’s a pretty funny statement and I am sure it’s TRUE…. awww… he should train somewhere warmer next time so he can get used to the heat.

Great post! Did you see the story about the yellow lab that walked in front of some of the riders and knocked one off of his bike? The poor pooch looked bewildered!
