Wales See Off Liechtenstein To Move Into Second Spot

It wasn’t the most comprehensive victory in the history of Welsh football, but a win is a win, and good enough to move the national team into second spot behind Germany in World Cup Qualifying Group Four.

Going into the match on the back of last month’s defeat in Russia, a win was vital for John Toshack’s men who next face a tough trip to Germany tomorrow, but it took the home side 43 minutes to break down the minnows of the group.

David Edwards scored his first international goal to give Wales a slender lead to take into the second half. Wales finally got their second with just 10 minutes to go when Evans’ header rebounded off the Liechtenstein captain Frick’s leg and into the net.
