Fitness Equipment: The Home Multi Gym
For anyone serious about exercising in the privacy and comfort of your own home, a home multi gym is an absolute must.
A multi gym is a piece of exercise equipment designed so the user can do multiple and different exercises on one machine in less time than it takes to workout on multiple exercise machines. The multi gym comes in many different variations, offers different forms of resistance and takes up far less room than the whole host of other equipment you’d need to perform the various exercises.
According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturing Association, home multi gym use has grown by a massive 80 percent since 1987 and with the huge array of machines now available, there’s really no excuse why you can’t cancel the gym membership and start working out at home.
Home multi gyms are available in both compact and standard designs with the good old multi-stack system still proving to be a very popular option. Aside from the obvious differences in size, take note of the following when you’re shopping for a home multi-gym:
1. Make sure the unit is sturdy, well made and doesn’t wobble. Stay away from cheaper, inferior machines.
2. Make sure the unit “feels” right. Try out several different stations with light weights to test their comfort.
3. Make sure the unit features as many exercise options as you need.
4. Does the machine require assembly? Some of the more advanced units are quite complex with a series of cables, pulleys and handles; definitely not for the inexperienced!
5. How much are you willing to spend and what features do you “really” need? Don’t get swayed by pushy salespeople.
6. How much warranty can I expect? If you’re going to be using your machine a lot then look for a unit with an expended warranty.
Now you’ve worked out what you’re looking for, it’s time for the fun part; start shopping for the perfect home multi-gym
.
Good luck!

I am planning on purchasing one this december, I was still sorting out proper space for it at my place. I have already spottted one that I love for only ZAR 2000 (+- US $250). It offers a full body work out. I can’t wait!

I found that I didn’t have much time to go to the gym, so my former boyfriend bought me one…but now it’s just me using it. I like it a lot, and it helps me keep my tummy in good shape. Has anyone tried to use an exercise vest with one of these?

I bought it from this company about 6 months ago, and it actually works. I think you will see these vests being added to the home gym in the next few years.
