It’s Always Guinness Time With This Classic Guinness Watch!
Been on the lookout the last couple of weeks for a gift for my brother’s birthday. It’s always difficult to find the perfect present, but this year I think I’ve found something he’ll really like. For as long as I can remember he’s collected watches - dress watches, novelty watches, pocket watches, sports watches, gadget watches…you name it, he’s probably got one!
Luckily, I recently discovered the great Celtic By Design web site - a family-run business based in the USA and quite literally your one-stop online Irish gift store.
They offer fast shipping on a great selection of products such as Books & Posters, Irish Jewelry, Home & Garden, Irish Weddings, Clothing and more. I instantly felt at home on their web site - the layout is simple, but effective, with a cool logo in the banner area alongside an “Irish Quote of the Day”. The color scheme is typically Irish featuring several shades of green.
Anyway, onto the watch. All of the products at Celtic By Design appear to be of great quality. No tacky touristy gifts here! Not surprisingly, I found the watch in the Guinness Merchandise category, alongside clocks, hats, shirts and other unique items. The Guinness watch sports an extra-wide black and brown leather band and a square face featuring the world famous Guinness logo/gold harp on a black background. I love the fact that it comes presented in a unique metal Guinness cannister - great for storage and great for proudly putting on display.
The ordering process was quick and painless - much better than many of the online sites I’ve shopped at in the past. I chose to create an account so I could track this order and keep a record of my order history, but I believe you can place an order without going through this process. Shipping rates were very reasonable and start at just $5.99 for standard 2-5 day shipping covering orders up to $20.00 (correct at time of writing this review). The day I placed my order there was also a 10% off Father’s Day Promotion being offered.
Order confirmation was instant and reassuringly all my details were correct. As the order was time sensitive (I need it to arrive before I leave for a UK vacation), I emailed the Celtic By Design contact listed on the web site and received a reply within minutes - very impressive and most unexpected! Mark, one of the joint owners, confirmed the order would be shipped the same day via USPS Priority Mail, and I should expect it Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.
All in all a great online shopping experience and impressive customer service after I’d placed the order. I’m really looking forward to receiving the watch and I’ll try to update this post with comments on the product before I leave for the UK.

Update (6/20/07): The watch arrived on Monday afternoon - a speedy delivery if ever I saw one. The item was well packaged and came complete with packing clip/invoice. Not surprisingly, the watch was in perfect condition and just as nice, if not nicer than I’d anticipated. I’d have to give Celtic By Design a 10 out of 10 in every department - great all round transaction, speedy shipping and a quality product!

Excellent! Mine arrived yesterday actually, a couple of days quicker than expected and everything was in perfect order. It’s a really cool watch…..
