MINI Motoring ID
So, MINI have come up with another cool idea to keep owners communicating with each other. Yesterday I had an email from MINI USA inviting me to sign up for “a unique Motoring ID“.
What exactly is a Motoring ID? Well, according to the MINI web site “it’s kinda like a secret society of MINI owners. If you see a MINI with an ID simply look up their ID on the owners lounge. It’s a great way to communicate with each other, to share adventures and learn about other MINIs.”
A few clicks into the site and I’m all signed up for “OPEN066″. Now I’m supposed to go out and buy 2″ Helvetica letters to stick on my MINI so anyone who sees me can look me up and contact me. I’m not sure if I’ll follow through with this yet…..do I really want 2″ sticky letters on my MINI?
There was a whole host of IDs to choose from. You pick a 3 or 4 letter prefix (for example FAST, DICE, COOP, MPH, GRIT etc.) and then add between 1 and 3 digits (001, 123, 999 etc.) Several of the folks on the Hampton Roads ClubMINI Yahoo! Group have already signed up for theirs. If you’re a MINI owner, get yours while you can. I’m sure they won’t last very long….
