New Guinness World Record: Most MINIs/Minis in a Parade
About a month ago I posted about an attempt on a Guinness World Record for the most MINIs in a parade to be held in Virginia Beach, Virginia on June 10th. The current record, held by a group in Blackpool, England, stands at 269 and event organizers were hopeful for a convoy of 300 vehicles.
Registration was due to start at 2:00pm and as I only live about a mile from the Virginia Beach Sportsplex where the event was due to start, it was nice to not have to rush to get there. Part of the registration process was to record every car’s VIN number, every owners name and address and issue each MINI/Mini with an official number. My car was number 229 which meant only another 41 were required to beat the record. As I queued up to buy raffle tickets for a set of wheel rims (all proceeds of which would benefit the Navy Seals Memorial Fund), we counted down the latest MINIs to arrive until number 270 was reached! This meant we had enough and could start the parade to break the record.
Lots of fun was had by all during the 5 mile convoy, and the official count after everyone returned to the Sportsplex was 273 MINIs/Minis - 4 more than the current record and a NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD! Congratulations to all involved and especially to the organizers and local MINI club Se7en Cities Mini.
The after event social at Conklins Irish Rover was also great fun with good food and a great pint of Murphy’s Irish Stout (kind of ironic considering it was a Guinness World Record!).

Yes, it was a great afternoon - the record was broken and most importantly a lot of money was raised for a worthy cause. I’ll post later this week when all the money has been counted and the record has been officially recognized.

Nice one Steve. Of course the next record you have to chase is how many people you can cram “into” your mini and still drive it. I think the record is around 20. You might want to borrow someone elses mini for the attempt though

awesome!!!! Great pics! Gotta love Murphys. There’s a pub called the Playwright in South Beach Miami.. all the bartenders are Irish. Great place.. they only served Murphys. No Guinness… and I always drank that.. mmmm mmmm good. That is Ironic… good to see you saw the Irony in that..

I’m not sure until the magic box arrives… Sometimes the Beer of the Month Club web site has the latest selections, but I’d rather wait until it’s delivered to see what I’ve got.

They should have Organic beer of the month club.
Not sure there’s that many Organic beers around though. If you think about it though.. Beers are naturally Organic?
