Table Tennis: Summer Fun Or Serious Sport?

Table tennis is a fast and skillful sport that demands quick reactions, and is very popular in Europe and Asia, although it has been gaining attention in the United States in recent years. Many people still think of table tennis (or ping pong as it’s also known) as simply a leisure pastime that can be played indoors or out at any time of the year.

Table tennis can vastly improve your hand eye coordination and can be played on your own (with one section of the table folded upright), with a partner or with up to 4 people.

No longer is table tennis equipment just a simple table, net, two bats and a ball; there are specific outdoor tables, indoor tables, tables requiring minimal assembly and a whole host of high quality accessories.

For me, table tennis has always been just a fun game I play once or twice a year, usually on holidays in various parts of the world. However, I think if I had more room at home I’d seriously consider buying an indoor table to help improve my game and provide some summer fun outside.

If you still think table tennis is just a nice relaxing game with little skill required, check out the following YouTube video. What a great rally!

I have to agree this reminds me of fun as a child, but I do know that in Asia they take this as a very serious sport.

Table tennis was fun, thought it would come back some day. I dig the picture of the table above, I remember the ones that used to foldup. Did not realise there were know so many types.
