Chocolate espresso smoothieIf you need a quick pick me up after a tough workout or are just looking for a satisfying snack that will keep the hunger pangs at bay, try the following
Chocolate espresso smoothie recipe.

The smoothie is low in fat, contains a healthy dose of protein to help rebuild those damaged muscles and most importantly, it tastes great.

Nutritional info: 527 calories, 78g carbohydrates, 27.5g protein, 10g fat

Ingredients:

  • 8oz chocolate yogurt (I used a Yoplait Whip! Chocolate Mousse Style yogurt
  • 1 large banana (browned & frozen)
  • 2 shots espresso (chilled)
  • 2 cups ice (14 cubes)
  • 1 dozen chocolate-covered espresso beans (bought mine in Starbucks)
  • 1 scoop whey protein powder (Hammer Nutrition Whey Protein is my protein powder of choice)

Save 15% off your first order!Directions:

  • Place half the yogurt plus all of the remaining ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.
  • Add remaining yogurt and pulse until smooth.
  • For a thicker smoothie, blend in a cup more ice.
  • To rebuild more muscle, add extra protein powder to suit.
  • Serves 2.

Note: any ripe banana will work, but a browned/frozen banana lends better flavor and texture.
