Pineapple Punch Smoothie

Berry Boost SmoothieHaven’t posted a smoothie recipe for a while, so thought it might a nice change to share one of my favorites. Here’s how to make a refreshing and healthy Pineapple Punch:

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 20-oz bag frozen strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 15-oz can pineapple (including juice), or several slices of fresh pineapple
  • 3 tbsp low-fat plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 6 ozs orange juice (my preference is Minute Maid Pulp Free)
  • 1 scoop whey protein (my preference is Hammer Nutrition Whey Protein)

Put all ingredients into a blender - orange juice first, then the protein powder followed by the fruit, yogurt and sunflower seeds. Pulse until smooth (usually about 30 seconds). Pour into a glass which has been pre-chilled in the freezer, add a long straw and enjoy!

Per serving: 616 calories; 106g carb; 28g protein; 11g fat; 35mg sodium; 9g dietary fiber.

Note: Pineapple Punch Smoothie can be made without protein powder for an equally refreshing desert drink.

Eating fruit is extremely beneficial to our health and well-being. Speaking from experience, finding the time to eat enough fruit per day can be difficult due to busy lifestyles.       How do you calculate the amount of calories in a recipe?

      I just used one of the many online calorie lists to calculate the per serving counts.
