Congrats Dean Karnazes! - 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days
Yesterday, Ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes completed his challenge to run 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days when he crossed the finish line of the ING New York City Marathon. Dean covered 1,310 miles in the 50 days and burned an estimated 150,000 calories!
He said he had reached a goal of raising $100,000 for Karno Kids, a foundation he started to benefit youth fitness programs. His finishing time was 3:00:30, about a minute behind first time marathon runner Lance Armstrong, and the fastest of his 50 runs.
When asked what his plans were for tomorrow after running 26.2 miles for each of the last 50 days, Dean replied, “I think I’ll go for a run tomorrow - a long one.”
