CHKD RunWalk for the Kids at Harbor Park, Norfolk, VA
A recent design project was to create a logo for an upcoming run/walk event in Norfolk, VA. The brief from the client was exceptional and allowed me to quickly nail down what was expected. After a dummy run of 7 or 8 examples, CHKD offered further thoughts and opinion on the end product. From there it was purely a matter of making tweaks to colors, positioning, and text placement.
This is the final logo which will be used on pre-race advertising, flyers, marketing collateral and event t-shirts. The Run/Walk event features a 10k, 5k and a unique Children’s Marathon and is a community event to encourage excercise and healthy lifestyles for kids. All proceeds from the event on May 13th, 2006 will benefit The Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) and is being timed by KaleRunning, a Hampton Roads based Race Management and Finish Line Services company.
From the initial logo design, CHKD went on to develop an event flyer and a promotional rackcard. Nice to see my work end up in the real world. The first time I saw the rackcard was in my local running store amongst all the other race flyers.

UPDATE: just heard from the Race Director that for reasons out of their control, the event has been moved to Saturday June 17th, 2006.

It’s a service I offer in addition to web site development/maintenance and something I really enjoy. For just $200 I will create something from scratch or, if you already have an idea in mind, I can use that as a starting point. The finished logo will be available in a high resolution vector format for print use, and a lower resolution suitable for use on a web site. […]
