Hey, if you ever decide to run the Boston Marathon we’ll have to meet up for a pint in one of the areas MANY irish bars! Good luck with the training!

    3. Steve Speirs Says:

I may run Boston next year. Ran it in 2000 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Touch, tough course though….

    4. Laurie Says:

Hey - I heard somewhere that your blog was infamous! hee hee. Okay, you know I’m kidding around.

I have a question for you. If you want to improve your running time (i.e. the time it takes to finish a run), do you train by trying to run faster, or do you train by trying to run further?

    5. Steve Speirs Says:

Laurie: no simple answer for this one, but you’ll probably have good results if you (a) run a little faster on your shorter runs and (b) run a little longer on your long runs. Personally, the shorter, faster stuff breaks me down quicker than the longer, endurance type of runs, but everyone’s different and the shorter/faster stuff may work for you.

Send me an email if you like with your current times and your goal times and I’ll see if I can answer a little more in depth. The “Contact Me” is up in the top left….

      Nice question though :)

      –Steve

Wow!! I am so impressed by anyone who trains for a marathon. I like to workout, but I hate to run. Good luck with all of your workout training.
