FIRST Marathon Training Program: Week 9
Week 9 - September 3rd, 2007
Despite running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon this past Sunday, I’ve got to pick myself up quickly as the plan gets another notch tougher. I’m going to need to be at the top of my game to finish this week with 3 solid performances, and as I’m now halfway through the 16 week marathon program, I can’t afford too many more below par workouts. Here’s what Week 9 has in store for me:
Key Run Workout #1:
10-20 minute warm up
1 mile (400m RI)
2 miles (800m RI)
2 x 800m (400m RI)
10 minute cool down
Key Run Workout #2:
6 mile run:
1 mile easy
4 miles @ MT pace (Mid Tempo)
1 mile easy
Key Run Workout #3:
Distance: 20 miles
Pace: PMP + (30 - 45 sec/mile)
The weather forecast isn’t ideal for the week ahead. Every day has a high of at least 80°F so each workout will sure to be challenging. Maybe I’ll have to get up early to avoid the heat of the late afternoon/early afternoon. We’ll see….
