Fleet Week Half Marathon

Fleet Week Start LineYesterday was a great day for a race - temperature and humidity were almost perfect and a welcome change from the heat and humidity of recent Sunday mornings. With 2 weeks to go until the Marine Corps Marathon, I was keen to find out what kind of shape I was in - a fast, flat half marathon turned out to be a useful test and a great confidence booster.

You can read a race report over at my Run Bulldog Run blog and/or view detailed race statistics (speed, distance, laps, weather etc.) courtesy of my Garmin Forerunner 305 and Motionbased.com - just click on the map below.

  • Finish time - 1:20:53 (6:10 per mile pace)
  • Temperature - 70°F
  • Humidity 36%
  • Wind speed 11.1mph.
  • Overall finish position - 8th (out of 880)
  • Age group position (40-44) - 2nd (out of 94)

Looking back through my race results archive, this was my second best half marathon ever, so naturally I’m very pleased with the performance. Good confidence booster for the Marine Corps Marathon!

Wow, I wish I was half as motivated as you are. Congrats on your race :) Seems like you’re doing well.

BTW, awesome advertisement on your blog. I love the entire page turn effect. Very clever and fun.

Well done, that’s a fast time and 8th out of 880 that has a certain symmetry to it!

Thanks for the comment Katie. If you’d like to know more about Page Peel Ads, just let me know.

Mike: it would have been nice if there were 888 runners, but there ya go…
By the way, I purchased the new Stereophonics album using the iTunes Gift Certificate from your contest. Still have a healthy balance on my account, so I’ll be on the hunt again this weekend…
