Officially a member of Les Croupiers Running Club
Today I received official confirmation of my Les Croupiers Running Club membership! Once I’ve run 3 races I qualify for a club vest, which I can proudly wear in races over here in the States.
Les Croupiers are one of the largest running clubs in Wales, and were formed in 1981, mostly from members of Cardiff AAC. The name comes from the Cardiff casino owned by one of the founder members, Gordon McIlroy, who offered to “put a few bob in” when it the club was started.
If you’re in the Cardiff, Wales area and you’d like to join, the best thing is just to pop along to Llandaff Rugby Club on Western Avenue at around 6:30pm - 7:00pm. The clubhouse is on the eastbound side of Western Avenue, next to UWIC campus, between Cardiff Road and the River Taff. If you’d like to contact someone in the club before showing up, there are plenty of people here who can help.
I wonder which member lives furthest from the club in Cardiff? I would guess I’m about 3500 miles away….can anyone beat that??
