Running Review: February 13th-19th
- Monday: Runervals 10k Strength Builder (7 miles - 4.5mph BP, 7.0mph “10k speed”).
- Tuesday: Easy 2 miles on the treadmill (with 30 second striders).
- Wednesday: Runervals 10k Strength Builder (7 miles - 5mph BP, 7.2mph “10k speed”).
- Thursday: Easy 3 miles on the treadmill (with 30 second striders).
- Friday: Easy 2 miles on the treadmill (with 30 second striders).
- Saturday: 2 mile warmup
Tune-Up Series 30k (2:00:20 - 8th overall, 1st age group, PR!) - Sunday: Easy 2.5 miles on the treadmill (with 30 second striders).
- 45.1 miles for the week
Summary: Very pleased with Saturday’s 30k race. My PR going into the 30k was 2:01:00 so I had in the back of my mind running at around 6:30 pace and maybe picking it up a bit in the last few miles. Mile splits were as follows:

I ran the first half fairly comfortably and made it to the 15k mark in the 1 hour 1 minute range, so I knew I’d have to pick it up if I was going to PR. As you can see from the splits I pressed on quite fast and somehow got into a good groove. I kept expecting to crash but with a big effort was able to maintain sub 6:30 miles. Very happy at 18 miles knowing that I would break 2:01:00 and ran hard to the finish. 2:00:20 was the final time, 8th overall and 1st in the 35-39 age-group. Still looking good for a fast Shamrock Marathon time. 2 more tough weeks and then I start to taper….
