Summary: Nice to get back to 40 miles for the week, even if most of them felt like running with a slight injury (groin area and sore right shin).

Saturday’s 10k went well (3rd overall), but I’m not sure why I can’t get closer to 37:00 minutes. My current training suggests I should be a bit quicker, but come race day, I don’t have the answers. I read something this week about the “training performance lag” where you don’t see the benefits of a hard spell of training for about a 2 week period after the hard training. Maybe everything will still come together in the near future but at the moment I feel constantly tired from the track workouts and tempo running, and never seem to be able to run on fresh legs.

None of these races are really important but I would like to run well at the Derby Day 5k on July 15th. Next big race on the list after that is the Rock’n'Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach where I’d love to set a PR.

On a slight side note, I reached my 200th consecutive day of running this week, which based on what I just said above, could be the reason for my sluggishness!
