Running Review: May 8th - May 14th
- Monday: Recovery 4 miles @ 70% HR (max 141bpm).
- Tuesday: Recovery 4 miles @ 70% HR (max 140bpm).
- Wednesday: 5 miles on the treadmill. 2 miles @ 65% (131bpm), 2 miles @ 80% (152bpm), 1 mile @ 65% (131bpm)
- Thursday: Easy 7 miles @ 70% HR (max 138bpm).
- Friday: Mixed 7 miles. 2 mile w/u, 1 mile 100m striders, 6×400m/200m rec (84, 81, 82, 79, 77, 78), 2 mile c/d.
- Saturday: 3.9 Sportsplex run @ 70%.
- Sunday: 8.35 tempo run, finished with a couple of miles in the low 6:00’s
- 39.2 miles for the week
Summary: Good experimental week. Going to try and incorporate some heart monitor training into the mix. This week has taught me that I need to take my easy days easier, which will leave me fresher and more motivated for the hard days. Fridays 400m repeats were hard and I really hope to get the times down to the mid-70’s sometime soon. Sunday’s tempo run (which I usually don’t enjoy), turned out to be a great workout. My last 2 miles were faster than they felt which might bode well for next weekend’s Independence Middle School 5k.
