Running Streak = 100 days

100 daysOk, so I’m not in the same league as these guys, but I am quite proud of my 100 day running streak. November 29th, 2005 was the last day I didn’t run, and even though I’ve had to add several little 2 milers to my routine, it’s been fairly easy to maintain “the streak”.

Complete rest days are a thing of the past, now I just run easy to recover. So far so good, training is going well and I’m hoping to run close to my best at next weekend’s Shamrock Marathon. Also, if I keep this going until the end of November I’ll be entitled to a USRSA listing of the streak. My good friend Paul Boyette, a fellow Tidewater Strider, is the only person I know on the list - he’s currently approaching his 4 year milestone which is a great achievement. For anyone interested in starting their own streak, I believe the miniumum requirement is to run just one mile per day under your own steam for the run to qualify. Personally, I set myself a 2 mile minimum (or roughly 16 minutes) and I think I should be able to continue at that level for some time to come. Hard to believe that some of the guys listed have run every day for the last 35 years!! Amazing.

Let’s just see how long I can keep this streak going….the day after Shamrock should be interesting!

[…] The vacation to Wales & Spain is over and it’s time to get back into the normal work routines, home routines and training routines. Rock’n’Roll is only a handful of days away and the Marine Corps Marathon looms 9 weeks in the distance. I managed to run every day whilst I was away, but most of it was easy running for just a couple of miles at a time. I’m pleased to say the streak is still alive and currently stands at 271 days. […]
