Running Streak - Day 250
On paper tonight’s run might look like just another 5.75 miles in the early evening heat and humidity of Virginia Beach, but it actually marks Day 250 of my Running Streak - 250 consecutive running days since the last day of November 2005. I’m still sticking to the same rules (run a minimum of 2 miles per day) and to be honest it’s been quite easy to keep the streak going - I can’t remember the last time I didn’t feel like going for a run.
This could all change very soon however. On Thursday I fly to the UK for a couple of days, before heading to Spain for a lazy week in the sun. I’ll spend a few more days in Wales with my family before heading back to Virginia Beach. It’s not that I won’t want to run. It’s just finding time to sneak out the door for a couple of miles without being missed
On the flip side, holidays are always a good time to run in new surroundings and it will be nice to get out and about in Spain. I’ll be taking my Garmin to log any training runs and will upload on my return. I’m not planning on taking my laptop with me and it will be nice to have a break from email and the internet for a short time.
I’m also guessing the reduced intensity while I’m away will help me rebuild and refocus, and I look forward to tackling a 10k in Wales on August 20th (Merthyr Police 10k), and maybe the East Coast Surf Championship 5k on August 26th in Virginia Beach. Oh yeah, I turn 40 on August 18th so I have plenty to look forward to and many goals to meet.
