Shamrock Marathon - "Run for Burley Day"

Burley DayOn March 19th I will be competing in the Shamrock Marathon in honor of a great friend that I have lost - Burley Day. Shortly before dawn on December 1st 2005, Burley set out for a typical morning run, but tragically, at approximately 6:30am, Burley was struck by a local school bus and killed instantly.

I’m running Shamrock as a tribute to Burley and the wonderful family he leaves behind and am politely asking for sponsorship contributions in the final build-up to the marathon. All proceeds will be paid into an Education Fund set-up exclusively for Burley’s two daughters, Barrett and McKendree, which will help with future college tuition fees and living expenses.

If you would like to contribute to the Fund, you can donate a dollar amount per mile or simply a flat amount. Below you will find a link to a PDF that contains information regarding the specifics of the Fund. Please make all checks payable to “The Education Fund for the Benefit of Barrett and McKendree Day” and send donations directly to me at the address below. I will personally submit all monies raised to the Fund and ask for your donations to reach me prior to race day - March 19th. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.

Many thanks in advance for your generous support for Burley, his wife Nancy, and daughters Barrett and McKendree.
Respectfully,

Steve Speirs
