Tuesday evening 8 mile run
Great run tonight. Wanted to get an 8 miler in after Sunday afternoon’s shortened run, mainly to boost my confidence in preparation for Saturday’s 10k race but also to test out my right foot (again).
I wore my heart rate monitor for the first time in ages, hoping to keep it in a nice easy zone.
It worked for the first mile or two (heart rate in the low to mid-140’s), but then for some reason it started giving off crazy high readings before cutting off altogether.
I just ran by “feel” for the remainder of the run and finished feeling fairly fresh and nicely invigorated - no foot problems and finally a glimmer of getting back in shape!
Mile splits: 7:30, 7:17, 7:17, 7:14, 7:18, 7:13, 7:09, 7:22
Full details of this training run, courtesy of MotionBased and my Garmin Forerunner 305, can be found here.

Steve,
Nice to see that you’re finally back running. I wish I could run that fast under normal circumstances never mind about coming back after an injury and a layoff.
Good luck in the race.
Dex.

Thanks Dex,
It’s nice to be back! I’m not expecting too much on Saturday, but it will be good to be at the races again.
Happy Miles!

Oh, you could do it I’m sure. Actually I posted some “beginners” tips on the following post: http://www.cymru66.com/running/50k-world-record-treadmill-run-attempt/
Let me know if you have any questions,
