The cymru66.com Volkswagen Bus Fund
The Volkswagen Bus, or Volkswagen Type 2 to use it’s correct name, is steeped in history and one of my favorite all-time vehicles. Not sure if it’s the boxy good looks, the pure coolness factor or just because it’s like nothing else on the road, but I love them.
I’m torn between the Generation T1 Type 2 (produced between 1950 and 1967) and the Generation T2 (produced between 1968 and 1979) and would be more than happy owning either of the classic “box on wheels”.
Oh yeah, just for the record, T1’s are also known as “Splitties” and T2’s nicknamed “Bays” due to their distinctive front windshields. A wishful-thinking “cymru66 Splittie” is shown below. What do you think?

I’m really on a mission at the moment to save enough cash to buy my very own Splittie or Bay Window. Any and all revenue from this site, my other blog Run Bulldog Run and my latest venture One Hundred Push Ups will be locked away until the day I find and can afford a classic Type 2 Bus. Ideally I’d like something drivable and in pretty good condition, but I must be honest; I wouldn’t be afraid to get my hands dirty if I find one that needs a bit of TLC.
Herein lies my plea to all the regular and not-so-regular readers of cymru66.com; if I’ve ever inspired you, amused you, helped you or entertained you in any way whatsoever, please consider making a small (or huge) donation to the “cymru66.com VW Bus Fund”!
