Swim the Atlantic with Google Sarcasm

Atlantic Ocean

68 steps to CardiffNo, Google Sarcasm isn’t a new Google Product. I was messing around on Google Maps last night after reading this post on the One Eyed View blog. Although I now live in Virginia Beach in the USA, I was born in Cardiff, Wales and was curious to see what directions Google would throw back at me.

I entered my home ZIP code as the starting address and my parents UK Post Code as the ending address. Google promptly returned a 68 step route to get me from Virginia Beach to Cardiff. What made me laugh was Step 31: “Swim across the Atlantic Ocean“. How did Google know I’m a triathlete, eh?

I wonder what the funniest Google directions would be? Maybe someone could try starting address=USA, ending address=the moon? Have fun…
