Edit multiple layers in Photoshop
This is one of those really useful tips that for some reason I can never remember, so I’m going to go ahead and post it here for future reference. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve wanted to change a font, a color or some other property of the Character pallette across multiple layers, and then gone in one by one to make the change. This neat little shortcut will really cut your design time.
If you want to make the same change to multiple text layers within Photoshop, there’s really no need to change each layer individually or create an action. These are the only steps you’ll need to follow:
- Link all of the text layers by clicking on the second column of each layer in the Layers pallette (a small chain icon should appear)
- Make sure one of the linked layers is currently selected
- Hold down the Shift key while clicking on the relevant option bar to make the change (for example font size, color, leading etc.)
- That’s it! All your linked layers should now display the change
Now I’ve actually taken a few minutes to write this down, I’ll hopefully be able to remember it in the future. Hope it helps you too….
