Wordpress YouTube Plugin: Viper’s Video Quicktags
Usually I’m not one to post videos, but yesterday I couldn’t resist publishing the very popular YouTube movie “The Attack of the Killer Tortoise“.
I hunted around for a Wordpress plugin to make the task easier, not just for the tortoise post, but for possible future postings too. The first one I tried was Viper’s Video Quicktags, which turned out to be a great little find.
Installation was quick and painless. Embedding the movie was a breeze too. Just for the record, the plugin not only supports YouTube, Google Video, IFILM, Metacafe, MySpace and Vimeo video sites, but also QuickTime (.mov), Flash (.flv) and Generic video file formats (.avi, .mpeg, .wmv etc.)

Installation
To install Viper’s Video Quicktags, just download the plugin, unzip the file to your location of choice, upload the plugin to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory and then activate it via your Wordpress Admin area. Simple huh?
The following is a screenshot of your new “Write Post” page within the Wordpress Admin area, complete with brand new YouTube button. To embed a movie, just select the button, copy/paste the URL and click OK. All the necessary code should appear in the content window, leaving you free to continue with the post or publish it. Enjoy!

Cool plugin tip. I use Wp-video which is similarly easy, but doesn’t have the flash button

Awsome post!
I like that plugin i might consider installing it my self too. Sometimes written words can’t say as Video can.
I usually look for funny stuff on ytube etc.

You’re welcome. There’s so much good stuff on YouTube. I think I’ll consider posting something on a weekly basis, just to break things up a bit. I still can’t believe how popular that tortoise was. I exceeded by bandwidth limit for the first time ever and had to upgrade my account….crazy!
